The Range: A High-Probability M15 Forex Strategy

“The Range” is an intraday forex trading strategy optimized for the M15 timeframe. It utilizes a combination of four Moving Averages (EMAs & WMAs) and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) to identify high-momentum trend reversals. This system is designed to filter out noise and signal entries only when a new trend is statistically likely to begin.

1. Indicator Setup & Configuration

To implement “The Range” strategy, configure your chart with the following specific settings:

• The Range (Trend Filter): Add two Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), periods 16 and 30. Set color to Red.
• Fast Trigger: Weighted Moving Average (WMA), period 5. Set color to Black.
• Slow Trigger: Weighted Moving Average (WMA), period 12. Set color to Green.
• Momentum Filter: Relative Strength Index (RSI), period 19. Add a horizontal line at level 50.

2. Long Entry Criteria (Buy Signal)

Execute a BUY order when the following conditions are met simultaneously:

1. Range Compression: The two Red EMAs (16 & 30) should be narrow, indicating consolidation.
2. The Crossover: The 5 WMA (Black) and 12 WMA (Green) must cross the Red EMA range from below to above.
3. Confirmation: Ideally, the 5 WMA (Black) crosses the red lines first, signaling early momentum.

Exit Rule: Close the position immediately when the 5-period WMA (Black) crosses back inside or below the Red moving averages.

3. Short Entry Criteria (Sell Signal)

Execute a SELL order under these conditions:

1. The Crossover: Both WMAs (Black and Green) must cross the Red EMA range from above to below.
2. RSI Filter: The RSI (19) line must be positioned below the 50 level. This is critical for short trades.
3. Momentum: Ensure the Red EMAs are beginning to slope downwards.

Exit Rule: Close the trade when the 5-period WMA crosses back above the Red range or if the range lines intersect (indicating trend reversal).
